As well as being keen cyclists, we’re also huge animal lovers and we’re delighted to have been able to combine both these passions and create the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home cycle jersey.
Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has to be the most famous animal rehoming centre in the world. Founded in 1860 by Mrs Mary Tealby, and originally called The Temporary Home for Lost and Starving Dogs, the centre quickly gained the support of influential people such as writer Charles Dickens, and in 1885 Queen Victoria became the home’s first Royal Patron. It’s estimated that the centre has cared for over three million animals since it first opened. Now operating from three centres in South East England, over 8,000 dogs and cats are cared for every year – and we are very proud to now be supporting the amazing work the home does.
Cycling jerseys are quite a diversion for the home, so it’s fantastic that Summit Different was allowed to produce the first ever officially licensed jersey. We worked with the very talented Jason Chapman, Battersea’s official illustrator, who ran with the idea and cleverly created the really fun images of biking dogs and cats.
As a charity the home receives no official funding and relies on the public’s generosity and support. If you’d like to do your bit, now is your chance – no need to wear your heart on your sleeve, just wear the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home jersey which also features the home’s instantly recognisable logo! All royalties from the sale of these jerseys go directly towards supporting Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
Ruby, the canine member of the Summit Different team, definitely approves of this new addition to the range!
